“De Grondleggers.”

This serie consists of 5 portraits of people who played an important role in the development of Son and Breugel. All these people have businesses located in the village that still exist today. The companies have been active for more than 100 years and have passed on from generation to generation. During the conversations with the persons, it was clearly visible that there is still a passion for the profession. In addition, it was nice to see how the profession has changed over the years. However, the social aspect is still there. The inspiration for this series has been the light of Rembrandt. The goal was to make powerful portraits in which the expression gives a “glimpse” into the character of the person and where the viewer can come up with his / her own story. What do the images do with the viewer? What are they saying? What feeling do these images give? In short, what story do they tell?
